Spoiler: Probably not and here’s why.
So… your baby’s already here. Maybe you meant to book a newborn photoshoot before the birth, but then things got hectic. (Because, well… you just had a baby.)Now you’re wondering: "Is it too late?"
The short answer? No. It’s not too late.
The long answer? Keep reading because I promise, you still have options.
📆 The “ideal” window (and why it exists)
Photographers often recommend booking newborn sessions for when babies are between 5 and 14 days old. That’s because in those first couple of weeks:
Babies are sleepier
They naturally curl into those womb-like poses
Their skin is often smoother, and they’re still used to being handled a lot
BUT... that doesn’t mean anything later is “bad” or “not worth it.”
👶 What if your baby is 3, 4, or even 6 weeks old?
You can absolutely still have beautiful, meaningful photos.
What changes a little:
Your baby might be more alert
They might prefer to be wrapped, held, or photographed while awake
The session may be more baby-led (pausing for cuddles, feeding, or soothing)
But honestly? That can be even more special.
Eye contact, sleepy yawns, and their tiny features fully visible,
older newborns often bring a whole new kind of magic.
