Pregnancy Symptoms No One Talks About

Let’s get real, because someone has to say it.
Everyone knows about morning sickness and cravings. But there’s a whole secret world of pregnancy symptoms that don’t make the baby books and when they hit you, you’re left wondering: “Is this normal, or am I just weird?” Spoiler alert: it’s normal. And you're definitely not alone.
Here are some of the surprising, strange, or downright annoying pregnancy symptoms that more mums need to talk about:
😫 The Smell Rage Is Real
I thought I could handle smells until I couldn’t.
One day, I nearly threw up just hanging freshly washed clothes.
I didn’t even realise what was setting me off for weeks.
Then one day I picked up a t-shirt from the airer, thought “oh that smells nice,” and BAM ran to the toilet so fast I nearly didn’t make it.
And it was in my bedroom the whole time. I basically slept in my own nausea trigger. Lovely.
I was wondering why i couldn't wake up from the bed.....
Fresh laundry was officially my worst enemy.
🥴 The “I Feel Hangover-ish All Day” Feeling
It’s not just morning sickness. For some of us, it’s all-day queasy like a mix between seasickness, a hangover, and low blood sugar, even after eating. There were days I felt like I was walking through fog, trying not to breathe too deeply in case something triggered it. Even brushing my teeth had to be a tactical mission.
There was no way i could do it first thing in the morning....
🫠 The Tears... So Many Tears
Crying because you went to the toilet and there was only an empty toilet roll left? Check.
Crying because you can't remember why you were crying? Also check.
Your hormones are basically throwing a rave and you’re not invited.
You just get to deal with the emotional hangover.
🔥 The Stomach Acid Surprise
One extra tip from me:
When you feel the nausea turning into actual vomiting, try sipping a little water.
It won’t stop it but at least it dilutes the stomach acid so it burns your throat a bit less.
Pregnancy is full of small wins like this.
And finally, the one that freaked me out!!!

🐛 The Itch That Just Won’t Stop (PUPPP)
Ever felt like your skin was on fire and crawling at the same time? If you develop a red, itchy rash on your bump, thighs, or even arms in usually in your third trimester (For me, it was at the beginning of the second, started at 14 weeks ) you might be dealing with PUPPP (Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy). It’s not harmful to your baby, but it can drive you absolutely mad. And no one warns you about it until you're Googling "why am I itchy everywhere but not dying?"
Cold compresses, oatmeal baths, and fragrance-free moisturisers can help a little, but sometimes you really do need to speak to your midwife or GP for relief. So if you're lying on the bathroom floor wondering if toast smells weird now, or googling "why does laundry make me gag" ....You're not broken. You're just pregnant.
And if no one else around you gets it, I do.
I'm here cheering you on messy hair, tear-streaked cheeks, weird cravings and all. Because this is the real stuff that no one warns you about and it still deserves to be remembered. You’re growing a tiny human. And that’s magic.
You’ve got this.
